What TypeForExam is
TypeForExam is a free, browser-based practice platform for the typing and stenography skill tests used in Indian government recruitment — SSC CHSL and CGL DEST, RRB NTPC, CPCT, court clerk and state LDC exams, and similar. The site offers practice tests in English, Hindi (Kruti Dev and Mangal/Inscript layouts), and several regional languages, along with legacy-font converters and written exam guides.
Everything runs inside your web browser. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no paid tiers, and nothing to install. By using typeforexam.com (the "site"), you accept these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the site.
Acceptable use
The site exists for personal exam preparation. You are welcome to practise as often as you like, share links to any page, use the converters for your own documents, and save or print your own practice results.
Please do not:
- scrape, copy, clone, mirror, or redistribute our practice passages, test engines, converters, or guides;
- embed our tools in another website or app, or present our content as your own;
- send automated traffic, or attempt to probe, overload, or otherwise abuse the site's infrastructure;
- use the site for anything unlawful.
If you run a coaching centre and want to use TypeForExam in class, just link your students to the relevant page — that needs no permission. For anything beyond linking, write to contact@typeforexam.com first.
Exam rules change — always verify the official notification
Our exam pages describe typing-speed requirements, test durations, error-counting rules, and font policies as published in official notifications, and we cross-check pages against those notifications. Recruitment bodies do revise patterns, however — sometimes in the middle of a cycle. The official notification PDF for your specific recruitment year is always the deciding document. Before you act on any figure you read here, verify it against the latest notification from the recruiting body.
TypeForExam is an independent practice website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Staff Selection Commission, the Railway Recruitment Boards, IBPS, the CPCT programme, any High Court or District Court, any state recruitment board, or any other government body. Exam names appear on this site only to describe which test a practice page simulates. Practising here does not guarantee selection in any examination.
Practice certificates are practice records
Some of our tests let you generate a certificate showing the speed and accuracy you achieved. These certificates are practice records and nothing more. They are not issued or recognised by any examination body, and they cannot be submitted as proof of typing skill in any recruitment process. The only typing-test result that counts is the one from the official skill test conducted by the recruiting body itself.
Advertising
TypeForExam is free because it is ad-supported. We show advertising through Google AdSense. Ad slots are kept visually separate from practice content and never interfere with a running test. Advertisers have no influence over what we publish, and the appearance of an ad is not an endorsement by us. Clicking an ad takes you to the advertiser's own site, which has its own terms and policies.
Your data
Typing tests run entirely in your browser: the text you type during a test is processed on your device and is not uploaded to our servers. We do not require accounts, and we do not ask for your name, phone number, or roll number to use any tool. If you choose to give us your email address — for example, to receive a practice certificate — we use it only for that purpose. Standard analytics and advertising cookies do operate on the site; our Privacy Policy explains exactly which services run and how to opt out.
Intellectual property
The practice passages, test engines, converters, guides, and page designs on this site are TypeForExam's own work, and we ask that you respect that. Legacy font and layout names mentioned on the site — Kruti Dev, DevLys, Mangal, Anu, Bijoy, Shree Lipi, and others — are the property of their respective owners. We reference these names only to describe keyboard layouts and conversion pairs; we do not distribute the fonts themselves and claim no rights over them.
Third-party links
We link out to official notification PDFs, government portals, and other external resources where they help you. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices.
Service provided as-is
The site is provided free of charge, "as is", without warranties of any kind. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site grows — for example, when we add new tools or change how a feature works. The current version always lives at this URL, with the date of the last revision shown below. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
