Privacy Policy

TypeForExam is a free typing-practice tool for Indian government-exam aspirants. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what control you have over it. If anything here is unclear, write to us — the email is at the bottom.

1. What we collect

What you enter on the site. Before starting a typing test, we ask for your name and email so we can put your name on the practice certificate at the end. The name is required for the certificate to print correctly. The email is used to send you that certificate as a record. If you tick the optional box "Send me free SSC CHSL typing tips", your email is added to a list we use to send occasional study tips and exam updates — you can unsubscribe from any of those emails with one click.

If you do not tick that box, your email is used only for the certificate session and is not added to any newsletter list.

If you write to contact@typeforexam.com directly, we receive your name, email, and the contents of your message so we can reply.

What is collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers collect technical information when you visit: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page that referred you, the pages you visit on our site, and the duration of your typing-test session. This data is used to operate, secure, and improve the site. Approximate location (country / state level) may be inferred from IP address; we do not collect precise GPS location.

Cookies. We use first-party and third-party cookies and similar technologies. These fall into three buckets:

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling them may affect how the site works.

2. Google AdSense and third-party advertising

We display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners, including approved third-party vendors, may use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we and our partners obtain consent through Google's certified Consent Management Platform before using non-essential cookies.

3. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage. The data is processed by Google on our behalf as described in Google's privacy notice. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

4. How we use information

We use what we collect to operate and improve the site, generate your typing certificate, serve and measure advertising, respond to inquiries, detect and prevent fraud or abuse, and comply with applicable law.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it. We do not pass it to data brokers.

5. Sharing of information

We share information only with service providers who help us run the site — hosting (web infrastructure), analytics (Google), advertising (Google AdSense), and form processing (Google Forms for the optional study-tips list) — under appropriate confidentiality and data-processing terms. We may also share information where required by law, by court order, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.

6. Data retention

Server logs and aggregated analytics are retained as long as reasonably necessary to operate and secure the site, then deleted in line with industry standard retention windows.

Name and email entered for the certificate live in your browser's session storage during the test and the certificate-download step. Once you close the tab, this data is gone from your device. If you ticked the optional updates box, your email is also stored in a Google Sheet we maintain for sending newsletters — you can have that record deleted any time by emailing us.

Contact emails are kept for two years for record purposes, then deleted unless an active matter requires us to keep them longer.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. Indian users have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP). To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@typeforexam.com with the subject line "DPDP request" and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are an EU/UK/Swiss user, equivalent rights apply under the GDPR. If you are a US user, equivalent rights apply under the CCPA/CPRA in California and similar state laws elsewhere.

8. Children's privacy

The site is intended for users aged 18 and above (government-exam aspirants). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information — HTTPS for all traffic, restricted access to backend systems, and routine reviews of our service providers. No method of transmission over the internet is fully secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Links to third-party sites

The site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites. Read their privacy policies before sharing information with them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version is posted on this page with the "Last updated" date revised. Material changes will be highlighted at the top.
